Who can stay, under what conditions, and within which community? At the heart of Oré Arts’ Schwindelfrei residency is the question of what “staying here” actually means under conditions of political and social exclusion. The artists of Oré Arts explore how people affected by exclusionary rhetoric and structural racism shape their daily lives, which routines, gestures, and relationships provide them with stability, and where ruptures and acts of resistance become visible. Oré Arts creates spaces where Black artists can work freely, safely, and autonomously. In doing so, it combines art education, community work, and political education.

The Oré Arts residency takes place in cooperation with zeitraumexit.
The Schwindelfrei Festival for Dance, Theater, and Performance+ serves as a platform for showcasing and networking within Mannheim’s independent performing arts scene and the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. Every two years, the Mannheim Cultural Office uses the Schwindelfrei Festival to present current artistic approaches and forms of expression from the independent scene. Schwindelfrei opens up spaces for artistic processes, initiates an exchange between local and national scenes, and seeks connections with the neighborhoods and audiences of the city and the region.
zeitraumexit is a residency venue for two artist collectives whose performances are presented as part of the festival.
