I:AM Momo

Boxing time. A performance on performance: on time as a commodity, pre-rendered timeframes, and the pain and beauty of being together.

Inspired by Michael Ende's Momo, the piece explores, together with the audience, how the ever-accelerating pace of contemporary life distances us from our own rhythms, from play, and from one another. It invites the audience into a world strikingly similar to our own, where everything depends on the questions: How much time do I have? How much time should I take?

I:AM Momo unfolds as a series of stage-scenarios composed in real time. It’s a carnival-like choreography of set-pieces, bodies, and words continuously assembled together only as long as they sustain our shared attention.

Through this playful logic of construction and disappearance, the performance inquires into how we participate in producing the very pressures that govern our lives, and might open a space to collectively reclaim the time stolen.

nothing_happens is an international ensemble that fuses existential philosophy, dance, and performance to reinvestigate the foundations of theatre as a social event, guided by the question: what escapes documentation in live-art? Our aim is to create widely accessible performances that welcome a broad range of audiences by playfully inquiring on the mutual dependence between audience and performers in holding up the show. We work through a training-based, research-driven practice, exploring how theatre can remain relevant in our metamodern realities

“I:AM Momo”  is part of the performative program celebrating zeitraumexit´s 25th jubilee. zeitraumexit turns 25! 25 years of performance art, experimental laboratory, aesthetic research, projects across all genres and socio-cultural projects. 25 years of dazzling, risk, and the unexpected. We celebrate a quarter of a century of zeitraumexit with a performative Jubilee program that explores time and temporality.
