What happens when it’s not people who take on the role of raising children, but a media device? A conventional television—yet for some of us, it was so much more: a best friend, a babysitter, and, time and again, a surrogate parent during our early childhood. With the performance ORAKEL, Caner Akdeniz embarks on a journey through film history and attempts to delve into a collective memory using iconic blockbuster titles from the 1980s to the early 2000s.
We are presenting the performance Orakel in the hall behind zeitraumexit, accessible via an unpaved path across the vacant lot. Please wear sturdy shoes. Thematically fitting, the performance “Yoldaş – Women Who Stand by Each Other” will take place earlier on the same day. There will be an after talk with Nazli Saremi for “Yoldaş – Frauen, die einander halten” and “Orakel” after the “Orakel”-Performance.
Concept, Space, Direction, Performance: Caner Akdeniz. Dramaturgy: Demjan Duran + Ceren Kurutan. Music: Giovanni Berg. Video: Jonas Friedlich.
