Destructive wars, emission-heavy military exercises and military logistics worldwide are accelerating climate change. An F-35 fighter jet consumes around 5,700 liters of fuel per flight hour. These fighter jets as well as tanks, warships and other large military equipment consume enormous amounts of fossil fuels. Rebuilding cities that have been reduced to rubble, oil fields that have been set on fire and destroyed forests are among the climate costs of wars. The current wave of armament and the strengthening of military logic are setting the course for an accelerated climate collapse, while we urgently need more environmental and climate protection to preserve a planet worth living on.
