The International Criminal Court faces criticism for targeting mainly Global South countries while rulers of the Global North often go unpunished. A discussion about the International Criminal Court´s current weaknesses and the need to reform the global rule-based order emphasizing human rights, international law, and cooperation.

Member of the Board of Trustees of the German Institute for Human Rights (2016-2020) and Advisory Board for Civilian Crisis Prevention, Federal Foreign Office (2015-2018).
Hans-Christof Graf von Sponeck, School/university education in Germany, Great Britain and the USA; 32 years with the United Nations (1968-2000), including as head of the UN offices in Botswana, Pakistan, India and Geneva (UNDP) and as Assistant UN Secretary-General responsible for the UN's humanitarian programs in Iraq. Resigned from this post in protest against the Iraq policy of the UN Security Council. Lecturer at the Center for Conflict Research at the University of Marburg (2005-19).
