Modern warfare such as drone or cyber warfare often leads to moral injury: emotional shocks caused by actions that contradict one's value system. Distance from the events, but emotional closeness promote guilt and shame. The churches recognize these injuries and offer pastoral care. They emphasize dignity, responsibility and reconciliation and warn against the dissolution of technical boundaries, while working as military chaplains in this system at the same time.
